Bits of Mexico City

After Puerto Vallarta, Oziel and I returned to Mexico City. Having been here a number of time before, we didn’t think to take many photos. But here are some of the Zoo in Mexico City and our late lunch with Reno and Fred.

We both enjoyed the zoo in Mexico City. It was the first time that I have seen giant pandas in real life – but, of course, we didn’t think to take any photos.

The paella I ordered for lunch was supposedly for one person. But between one crab, more than a dozen prawns, just as many muscles, other shell fish, fish pieces, chicken, pork, rice and vegetables, it was more than I could handle – as shown in the before and after shots. And that was with Oziel’s help.

Two dinners with Donna Hay

For Christmas I received Donna Hay’s Fresh, Fast and Simple from Laz. While it is full of delicious looking food, our travel plans have only just this week let us draw upon it for inspiration. What’s been nice about the recipes so far is that we have had all the ingredients on-hand (or at least reasonable substitutes), but they have been quite different to what we usually cook.

Our first foray into Donna Hay’s world of cooking (besides the occasional macaroon) was seared beef with garlic white beans.

The next night brought us Greek inspired meatballs.

And tonight we will be trying lime and lemongrass chicken.
