OK... I definitely like the H1N1 vaccine here in Australia. I got jabbed at 3pm yesterday... relatively pain-free... taught combat last night without any issues. Kinda half expected to feel something in my arm when I woke up this morning but NOTHING at this stage!

I just realised how many words I actually missed out on typing in my previous comment post.... my fingers can't seem to keep up with my brain!!! Massive fail!

I think I'm leaning towards getting jabbed before I head over to London for new years..... especially since it's not painful! (yes, I'm a woose!)

I just had a look at the NSW Health website and the vaccine being used is different to the one in Sweden. From what I understand there are two possible vaccines. The one used in Europe was developed using a previously untested method, but it was the only way they were able to produce enough for the population. Here they are planning to vaccinate the entire population, with Sweden having purchased 20 million vaccines for its 10 million residents. As it is such a large roll out it needs to be more controlled. Personally I think there is a lot of hysteria about the risks of the flu.

I don't know if we're getting different H1N1 vaccine in Australia compared with Sweden but everyone I've spoken to who's had it here said that it wasn't painful at all afterwards?

I think we're panicking much less over here than Sweden about it.. anyone who chooses to get the H1N1 vaccine can pretty go see their GP and get jabbed...

Except that as I understand it the latest research seems to indicate that flu vaccines are pretty much useless. For instance one year they used the vaccine for the wrong flu virus and there was no difference in rates of sickness or mortality.

Not only that but it sounds like there is a genuine danger associated with getting the flu shot!
